Pharmacological action of

NSAIDs for topical use in ophthalmology. It has anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects.

The main mechanism of action of the drug is the inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis, which play an important role in the pathogenesis of inflammation and pain.

Pharmacokinetics

There is confirmed evidence that the drug penetrates the anterior chamber of the eye.

With a single instillation, the active substance of the drug is determined in the moisture of the anterior chamber for several hours.

With topical application of Indocollyr, systemic absorption is low.

Indications

Inhibition of myosis during cataract surgery.

Treatment and prevention of inflammatory processes after surgery on the eyeball.

Prevention of cystic edema of the macula after cataract surgery.

Treatment of non-infectious conjunctivitis.

Treatment and prevention of post-traumatic inflammatory process in case of penetrating and non-penetrating wounds of the eyeball (as an addition to local antimicrobial therapy).

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

Hypersensitivity to acetylsalicylic acid or other NSAIDs, manifested by attacks of bronchial asthma, the appearance of urticaria, acute rhinitis.

Indocollyr is used with caution with:

Epithelial herpetic keratitis (including a history of).

Diseases causing blood clotting disorders (including hemophilia, prolonged bleeding time, tendency to bleed).

Use during pregnancy and lactation

Adequate and strictly controlled clinical studies on the safety of using Indocollyra during pregnancy and lactation (breastfeeding) have not been conducted.

However, the drug can be used in the first 5 months of pregnancy if the intended benefits of the therapy to the mother outweigh the potential risk to the fetus.

Starting from the 6th month of pregnancy, the drug should not be prescribed, because this can lead to impaired function of the vascular system and kidneys in the fetus.

Indomethacin is excreted in breast milk, so if you need to use the drug during lactation, you should decide whether to stop breastfeeding or avoid using it during breastfeeding.

Composition

1 ml eye drops 0.1% contains:

Active ingredients:

Indomethacin 1 mg.

Excipients:

thiomersal,

arginine,

hydroxypropyl betacyclodextrin,

hydrochloric acid,

purified water.

Dosage and administration of

Inhibition of intraoperative myosis

To inhibit intraoperative myosis, the drug is instilled 1 drop in a conjunctival sac for 2 hours at an interval of 30 minutes (4 times) before surgery.

Prevention of cystic edema

To prevent cystic edema of the macula, the drug is instilled 1 drop 3-4 times / day for 1 month after surgery.

For other indications, 1 drop is prescribed 3-4 times / day, depending on the severity of the condition. The course of treatment can last from 1 to 4 weeks.

Side effects

From the side of the organ of vision

Rarely - mild or moderate burning and / or temporary loss of clarity of vision immediately after instillation of eye drops with prolonged use of Indocollyra - corneal opacity, conjunctivitis.

Allergic reactions

Rarely - itching and redness of the skin.

With prolonged use of Indocollir, systemic side effects of indomethacin may develop.

Drug Interaction

Indocollir may potentiate the effects of indirect anticoagulants, lithium preparations.

The concomitant use of this drug with diflunisal (development of gastrointestinal bleeding) and other NSAIDs, including acetylsalicylic acid in high doses (3 g / day or more) is not recommended.

Concomitant use of indomethacin with beta-blockers and saluretics may attenuate the effects of the latter.

If necessary, it can be used at the same time as other eye drops, incl. containing ACS. In this case, the interval between applications should be at least 5 minutes to prevent the leaching of the active substances in subsequent doses.

Overdose

Accidental intake does not pose a risk of side effects.

Storage conditions

The drug should be stored in a dry, dark place at a temperature not exceeding 20 РC.

Expiration

2 years. After opening the vial, the drug should be used within 6 weeks.
