Pharmacological action
Boric ointment is an antibacterial, antifungal and antiparasitic (anti-pediculosis) drug. Together with oxyquinoline sulfate, the ointment has a contraceptive property. It can penetrate the blood through microcracks of the skin, wounds, mucous membranes. Accumulates in body tissues (cumulation effect). Excreted in urine after 5-7 days.

Contraindications

Contraindicated in pregnancy. It can not be used to treat mammary glands before feeding the baby.

Active substances: boric acid 5 g petrolatum 95 g
Dosage and administration
For dry and cracked skin, 5% boric ointment is applied to the skin as needed. With lice, a 5% boric ointment is applied to the hairy areas of the body at the rate of 10-25 g per person, depending on the degree of infection with insects, density and length of hair. After 20-30 minutes, the ointment is washed off with warm running water using any detergent. After washing, comb your hair with a frequent comb.
Side effects
Possible: with overdose and prolonged use, and also with impaired renal function, acute and chronic toxic reactions (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, rash, headache, confusion, convulsions, oliguria, shock) may occur.
