Pharmacological action
Cefurus has a broad spectrum antibacterial effect, bactericidal.
Indications
Pneumonia, pleurisy, lung abscess, bacterial etiology meningitis, infections of the genitourinary tract, biliary tract, ENT organs, peritonitis, sepsis, infections of bones and joints, skin and soft tissues, wound infections, gonorrhea, syphilis, severe dysentery salmonellosis, bacterial endocarditis, Lyme disease.
Prevention of postoperative complications in surgery, urology, obstetrics and gynecology, ENT practice.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity (including to other cephalosporins, penicillins and carbapenems).
Caution should be prescribed cefurus to newborns (including premature infants), with chronic renal failure, bleeding and gastrointestinal tract diseases (including history of ulcerative colitis), weakened and emaciated patients, during pregnancy, during lactation (breastfeeding).
Composition
1 vial contains cefuroxime (in the form of sodium salt) 1.5 g
Dosage and administration
Cefurus is prescribed in oil, in / in (jet or drip).
IV and IM adults are prescribed 750 mg 3 times / day. with severe infections, the dose is increased to 1.5 g 3-4 times / day. (if necessary, the interval between administrations can be reduced to 6 hours). The average daily dose of Cephurus is 3-6 g.
Children older than 3 months. appoint 30-100 mg / kg / day. in 3-4 introductions. For most infections, the optimal dose of Cephurus is 60 mg / kg / day.
Newborns and children up to 3 months of age are prescribed 30 mg / kg / day. in 2-3 introductions.
Side effects
Allergic reactions: chills, rash, itching, urticaria rarely - erythema multiforme, bronchospasm, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, anaphylactic shock.
From the digestive system: diarrhea, nausea, vomiting or constipation, flatulence, cramping and abdominal pain, ulceration of the oral mucosa, oral candidiasis, glossitis, pseudomembranous enterocolitis, impaired liver function (increased activity of AST, ALT, alkaline phosphatase, LDH , bilirubin level), cholestasis.
From the genitourinary system: impaired renal function (decreased creatinine clearance, increased creatinine and residual urea nitrogen in the blood), dysuria, itching in the perineum, vaginitis.
Hematopoietic organs: decreased hemoglobin and hematocrit, anemia (aplastic or hemolytic), eosinophilia, neutropenia, leukopenia, agranulocytosis, thrombocytopenia, hypoprothrombinemia, prolongation of prothrombin time.
Local reactions: irritation, infiltration and pain at the injection site, phlebitis.
