Pharmacological action
It has high antibacterial activity against pathogens of wound infections and various purulent-inflammatory processes.
Indications
Infected wounds in the second phase of the wound process (absence of pus, necrotic tissue) caused by sensitive microorganisms, including burns of the 2nd or 3rd degree, long-term non-healing trophic ulcers.
Contraindications
Individual intolerance to synthomycin or chloramphenicol, pregnancy, lactation, early childhood.
Special instructions
During treatment, systematic monitoring of the peripheral blood picture is necessary. Adverse effects on the fetus during pregnancy and during breastfeeding have not been identified.
When applied to large surfaces with the simultaneous use of ethanol, disulfiram-like reactions may develop (hyperemia of the skin, tachycardia, nausea, vomiting, reflex cough, convulsions).
Composition
Per 100 g of liniment:
Active ingredient: synthomycin - 10 g.
Excipients: castor oil, sorbic acid, carmellose sodium, em.
Dosage and Administration
Externally. Sterile gauze swabs are impregnated with liniment or the drug is applied directly to the affected area or wound. A conventional dressing is applied from above.
Side effects
Allergic reactions possible: skin rash, angioedema. From the hemopoietic organs: rarely - reticulocytopenia, leukopenia, granulocytopenia, thrombocytopenia, erythropenia, aplastic anemia, agranulocytosis.
Drug interaction
When used simultaneously with erythromycin, clindamycin, lincomycin, mutual weakening is possible due to the fact that chloramphenicol can displace these drugs from the bound state or prevent their binding to the 5OS subunit of bacterial ribosomes.
