Pharmacological action

Clotrimazole - trichomonacid, antiprotozoal, antifungal, antibacterial.

Destroys the cytoplasmic membrane of microorganisms with the formation of vacuoles inside the cell, inhibits the synthesis of nucleic acids and proteins.

Pharmacodynamics

It has a wide range of fungicidal effects: effective against yeast (Candida albicans) and mold (phycomycetes) fungi, dermatophytes (including Trichophyton, Epidermophyton, Microsporum), Malassezia furfur includes an antibacterial spectrum. h Corynebacterium minutissima.

Pharmacokinetics

Poorly absorbed from the skin and mucous membranes. Accumulates in the stratum corneum of the epidermis.

Indications

Dermatomycosis, multicolored lichen, erythrasma, candida vulvovaginitis or balanitis.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to clotrimazole, I trimester of pregnancy.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

In clinical and experimental studies, it was not found that the use of clotrimazole during pregnancy and lactation has a negative effect on the health of a woman or fetus (child).

However, the question of the advisability of prescribing clotrimazole should be decided individually after consulting a doctor.

In case of prescribing the drug to a pregnant woman, she should be warned that the applicator should not be used with the introduction of vaginal tablets.

Composition

1 g of cream contains:

Active substance:

clotrimazole 10mg

Excipients:

benzyl alcohol,

cetostearyl alcohol,

eutanol G,

polysorbate 60,

purified water.

Dosage and Administration

Externally. Apply a thin layer 2-3 times a day on previously cleaned (using soap with a neutral pH value) and dry affected skin and gently rub it. The duration of treatment depends on the severity of the disease, the localization of pathological changes and the effectiveness of therapy.

Treatment of dermatomycosis is carried out for at least 4 weeks, pityriasis versicolor -1-3 weeks.

In case of fungal diseases of the skin of the legs, it is recommended that therapy be continued for at least 2 weeks after the symptoms of the disease have been resolved.

Side effects

Lower gastrointestinal spasms, generalized erythema, rash, local allergic reactions (burning, itching).

Drug Interaction

Reduces the effect of polyene antibiotics (amphotericin, nystatin, natamycin, etc.).

Para-hydroxybenzoic acid propyl ester in high concentrations enhances the antifungal action of clotrimazole, dexamethasone decreases.

Clotrimazole activity may be decreased when co-administered with nystatin.

Overdose
