Pharmacological action
Dimexide has a local anesthetic, local anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial (antiseptic) and fibrinolytic effect. It penetrates quickly and well through biological membranes, incl. through the skin and mucous membranes, increases their permeability to other drugs. Changes the sensitivity of antibiotic-resistant microflora. In most cases, Dimexide is used in combination with other medicinal substances (previously dissolved in it or applied to the skin) for better and deeper penetration into tissues (for example, with heparin in the treatment of thrombophlebitis, with glucocorticoids in the treatment of eczema, with antimicrobial agents for treatment of furunculosis, erysipelas, acne, etc.).
Indications
Diseases of the musculoskeletal system accompanied by soreness and inflammation (rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, deforming osteoarthritis, sciatica, arthropathies, bruises, sprains, traumatic infiltrates, etc.) inflammatory diseases of the skin, dermatitis, erythema, erythema dermatitis, , erysipelas, acne, etc.) purulent wounds (poorly or not cleansed by conventional methods), burns, trophic ulcers, phlegmon of various localization, thrombophlebitis in plastic surgery - canning of skin homografts in dentistry - inflammatory diseases of the maxillofacial region, salivary glands, periodontitis, pulpitis, periodontitis, arthritis and arthrosis of the temporomandibular joint.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity, impaired liver and / or kidney function, myocardial infarction, angina pectoris, severe atherosclerosis, stroke, coma, glaucoma, cataract, pregnancy.

Dosage and administration
Dermal, in the form of applications and irrigation (flushing). In a solution of the required concentration, gauze wipes are moistened and applied to the affected areas for 20-30 minutes. A plastic film and a cotton or linen cloth are applied over the napkin. Duration of applications - 10-15 days.
In the treatment of erysipelas and trophic ulcers - 50-100 ml of a 30-50% solution is applied to the affected area 2-3 times a day with eczema, scleroderma - compresses with a 40-50% solution for pustular skin diseases - 40% solution. For local anesthesia for pain syndromes - a compress with 100-150 ml of a 25-50% solution 2-3 times a day for the treatment of deep burns - dressings with a 20-30% solution.
For facial skin, etc. highly sensitive areas apply 10-20-30% solutions.
In skin plastic surgery, dressings with a 10-20% solution are used on transplanted skin auto- and homografts immediately after surgery and on the following days of the postoperative period until the graft is permanently implanted. A 5% solution in Ringer's solution is used as a preserving medium for storing skin homografts. Less concentrated solutions rinse purulent-necrotic and inflammatory foci and cavities.
Side effects
Itching dermatitis, skin rashes, mild burning, itching, nausea, vomiting (in some patients - due to the smell of the drug) in rare cases - bronchospasm.
Drug Interaction
Increases absorption and enhances the effects of other co-administered drugs.
Compatible with heparin, antibacterial agents, NSAIDs.
Increases sensitivity of microorganisms to aminoglycoside and beta-lactam antibiotics to chloramphenicol, rifampicin, griseofulvin. Sensitizes the body to drugs for general anesthesia.
