Genistein

Genistein is an organic substance of plant origin from the class of isoflavones.

It is the main phytoestrogen in soy.

Unlike estrogens produced by the human body, genistein does not cause excessive division of hormone-dependent tissues while maintaining all other positive properties.

Genistein has a unique effect on estrogen receptors (ER) in the prostate gland and blocks the activity of ER-β, which provoke the development of tumor cells, including in precancerous conditions.

At the same time, genistein stimulates the activity of ER-β, which have a protective anti-proliferative, pro-apoptotic effect, and also improves cell differentiation.

Genistein blocks both androgen-dependent and androgen-independent cell division of the prostate gland by decreasing the sensitivity of androgen receptors in the cells of the prostate gland.

A similar selective activity of EGCG has been shown in cell models of hormone-sensitive and hormone-resistant prostate cancer cells.

EGCG protects the prostate gland against testosterone-induced benign hyperplasia and fibrosis, and prevents tumor cells from adhering to surrounding tissues.

Thus, EGCG effectively blocks the main signaling mechanisms of pathological cell division, triggers the death of transformed cells, and also suppresses inflammatory responses and pathological growth of blood vessels, i.e.

carries out multiple blocking of the main links of the pathogenesis of hyperplastic processes in the tissues of the prostate gland.

This allows EGCG to reduce the severity of the inflammatory process in patients with chronic prostatitis, and also inhibits the overgrowth of prostate tissue.
