Pharmacological action

Cholagogue. Increases the formation and secretion of bile. It has a selective antispasmodic effect on the bile ducts and sphincter of Oddi. The drug does not reduce gastrointestinal motility and blood pressure.

Reduces stagnation of bile, prevents the crystallization of cholesterol and, thereby, the development of cholelithiasis.

Pharmacokinetics

Absorption and distribution of

After oral administration, it is rapidly absorbed from the digestive tract. Cmax in the blood after oral administration is achieved after 2-3 hours. It weakly binds to plasma proteins.

Excretion of

T1 / 2 is about 1 hour. Excreted in the urine: about 93% as glucuronate, 1.4% as sulfonate, 0.3% unchanged.

Indications

- biliary dyskinesia and sphincter of Oddi hyperkinetic type

- non-calculous chronic cholecystitis, cholangitis, cholelithiasis

- condition after surgical interventions on the gallbladder and biliary tract, nausea, sore nausea vomiting (against the background of bile hyposecretion).

Contraindications

Use during pregnancy and lactation

There is no data on the safety of the use of gimecromon during pregnancy and lactation.

Prescribing Odeston during pregnancy and lactation (breastfeeding) is permissible only in cases where the intended benefits to the mother outweigh the potential risk to the fetus or child.

Composition

Tablets from white to white with a yellowish tint, round, flat-cylindrical, beveled and engraved on one side with the letters Ch.

Excipients: potato starch - 45 mg, gelatin - 3 mg, sodium lauryl sulfate - 1 mg, magnesium stearate - 1 mg.

Dosage and administration

The drug is administered orally 30 minutes before a meal.

Adults are prescribed 200-400 mg 3 times / day. The daily dose is 1200 mg. The course of treatment is 2 weeks.

If you miss a dose, you must take the drug as soon as possible. If the time for the next dose is approaching, you should not take the missed dose. Do not take a double dose of the drug in order to compensate for the missed.

Side effects of the

From the digestive system: diarrhea, flatulence, abdominal pain, ulceration of the gastrointestinal mucosa.

Other: allergic reactions, headache.

Drug Interaction

When used concurrently, morphine, which causes Oddi's sphincter spasm, weakens Odeton's action.

With simultaneous use of Odeton with metoclopramide, there is a mutual weakening of action.

Odeston enhances the effects of indirect anticoagulants.

Overdose

There have been no reports of an overdose of Odeton at this time.
