Pharmacological action of
Pharmacodynamics of
Ketoconazole, a synthetic derivative of imidazole-dioxolane, has antifungal activity against dermatophytes such as Trichophyton sp., Epider-mophyton sp., Microsporum sp., and yeast, such as Candida. and Malassezia furfur (Pityrosporum ovale). Ketoconazole shampoo quickly reduces flaking and itching, which are usually associated with dandruff, seborrheic eczema, and pityriasis versicolor.
Pharmacokinetics
Absorption of ketoconazole through the skin with local application is negligible. Since even with prolonged use, the content of ketoconazole in the blood is not determined, we can conclude that the drug does not have a systemic effect.
Indications
Treatment and prevention of skin lesions caused by the yeast-like microorganisms Malassezia furfur (Pityrosporum ovale), such as dandruff and pityriasis versicolor (local).
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to any component of shampoo.
Special instructions
Avoid contact with eyes when using shampoo. If shampoo gets into your eyes, rinse them with water.
To prevent withdrawal symptoms with long-term local treatment with corticosteroids, it is recommended to continue topical use of corticosteroids in combination with Nizoral shampoo 2% followed by gradual withdrawal of corticosteroids within 2-3 weeks.
Seborrheic dermatitis and dandruff are often accompanied by increased hair loss. In rare cases, increased hair loss was noted with the use of Nizoral shampoo 2%.
Composition
Active ingredient: ketoconazole, 21 mg / g (taking into account a 5% excess). Excipients: macrogol methyl dextrose dioleate, imidourea, cocoyl diethanolamide, collagen hydrolyzate, sodium hydroxide, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium lauryl sulfosuccinate, sodium chloride, hydrochloric acid, flavor, dye red charming (E 129), water.
Dosage and administration
Apply Nizoral Shampoo 2% to affected areas for 3-5 minutes, then rinse with water.
