Description

KORNEREGEL

Transparent or slightly opalescent, colorless, easily flowing gel.

Pharmacodynamics

The active ingredient of the drug Korneregep is dexpanthenol / panthenop - a precursor of pantothenic acid, which, therefore, has all the same biological properties as D-pantothenic acid, which, having turned into coenzyme A in the human body, is involved in many metabolic processes.

The data obtained in experiments on animals indicate an increase in fibroblast proliferation and the presence of a regenerating effect.

When applied externally, dexpanthenol is able to compensate for the increased need for pantothenic acid in damaged skin or mucous membranes.

The eye gel has a high viscosity, which allows for long-term contact of dexpanthenol with the surface of the mucous membrane of the eye.

Pharmacokinetics

According to the results of the study of tritiated dexpanthenol, its penetration (adsorption) through the skin was established.

To increase the duration of contact of an aqueous solution of dexpanthenop with the corneal epithelium, the composition of the drug Korneregep contains carbomer, which, due to the high

molecular weight does not penetrate into the tissues of the eyeball and is not absorbed into the systemic circulation.

Indications for use:

- treatment of non-inflammatory keratopathy, for example, such as: corneal dystrophy, recurrent erosion, corneal damage when wearing contact lenses.

- as an auxiliary therapy to stimulate the healing process of the cornea and conjunctiva in their injuries and burns (chemical and thermal).

- an auxiliary agent in the treatment of infectious lesions of the cornea of bacterial, viral or fungal origin.

Contraindications:

Individual hypersensitivity to any component of the drug.

Carefully:

During pregnancy and during breastfeeding (clinical data are not available).

Pregnancy and the period of breastfeeding:

There are no data on the effects of oral pantothenic acid on pregnancy and fetal development or the health of the newborn.

However, it is known that when taking

inside pantothenic acid, into which dexpanthenol is metabolized, freely penetrates the placenta and is excreted through breast milk in proportion to the amount taken

drug.

Since there are no data on the concentration of dexpanthenop (pantothenic acid) in blood plasma after topical application in the form of an eye gel, the use of the drug Korneregel during pregnancy and / or breastfeeding is possible only after consulting a doctor, when the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus and / or a child.

Method of administration and dosage:

Locally.

In the lower conjunctival sac of the affected eye, 1 drop 4 times a day, and 1 drop at bedtime.

Side effect:

Itching, hyperemia, conjunctival edema, pain, sensation of a foreign body", increased spasodema, transient "blurred" vision.

Allergic reactions: very rarely - hypersensitivity (itching, rashes on the skin).

Overdose:

There are no data on drug overdose.

Interaction with other medicinal products:

Cases of incompatibility with other drugs are unknown.

In cases where additional local therapy is carried out with gas drops / ointments, the interval between the administration of the drug Korneregel and other ophthalmic drugs

should be at least 15 minutes.

Due to its physical properties, the drug Korneregel can extend the residence time of other ophthalmic drugs in the eye and, thereby, enhance their effect.

Therefore, Korneregel should be applied last.

Special instructions:

Korneregel should not be used as monotherapy for infectious corneal lesions of bacterial, viral or fungal origin.

The preservative cetrimide, which is part of the drug, with prolonged or too frequent use, can cause local eye irritation, allergic reactions (burning, redness, sensation of a "foreign body" in the eye) and damage to the corneal epithelium.

During the period of treatment with Korneregel, it is not recommended to wear contact lenses, due to the possible incompatibility of the drug with the lens material.

However, if contact lenses are nevertheless indicated, they should be removed before using Korneregel and put on again no earlier than 15 minutes after the instillation of the drug.

Do not touch the pipette tip of the tube to the eye.

The tube must be closed after each use.

If there is no improvement in the condition, signs of eye irritation appear, you should stop using the drug and seek medical advice.

Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and complex mechanisms:

After instillation of the drug, a thin film forms on the cornea, which can cause a short-term "blurring" of vision, thereby reducing the speed

reactions.

Therefore, you should start driving vehicles and mechanisms when the clarity of vision is restored.
