Contraindications

Dosage and administration

Inside, without chewing and drinking with liquid, regardless of food intake. It is recommended to take a daily dose in one dose.

Side effects of

Drug Interaction

No studies of the interaction of levocetirizine with other drugs, including studies with CYP3A4 isoenzyme inducers, have been performed.

In the study of the drug interaction of cetirizine racemate with pseudoephedrine, cimetidine, ketoconazole, erythromycin, azithromycin, glipizide and diazepam, no clinically relevant undesirable interactions were identified.

When administered concurrently with theophylline (400 mg / day), the total clearance of cetirizine is reduced by 16% (the kinetics of theophylline does not change).

In the study, concurrent administration of ritonavir (600 mg 2 times daily) and cetirizine (10 mg daily) showed that cetirizine exposure increased by 40% and that of ritonavir changed slightly (11%).

In sensitive patients, the concomitant use of levocetirizine and alcohol or other CNS depressant agents may exacerbate the CNS effects, although it has been shown that cetirizine racemate does not potentiate alcohol.

Overdose

Symptoms: drowsiness and agitation (in adults), as well as anxiety, alternating with drowsiness (in children) are possible.

Treatment: There are no specific levocetirizine antidotes. In case of overdose, symptomatic or supportive treatment is recommended. If a short time has passed after taking the drug, gastric lavage should be performed. Levocetirizine is practically not excreted in hemodialysis.
