Pharmacological action

The action of this complex drug is due to its components. Methenamine belongs to the class of antiseptics and disinfectants, to the group of aldehydes. The action is based on the ability of the drug to decompose in an acidic environment with the formation of formaldehyde, which in this case has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties.

The complex salt of methenamine is present to fill the deficit of calcium ions, to reduce the permeability of the vascular wall (which is typical for any inflammation).

Indications

Symptomatic treatment of acute respiratory diseases and colds (as part of complex therapy).

Dosage and administration

The drug should be taken in adults with initial symptoms. 1-2 tablets 3-4 times / day, course of treatment - 3-5 days

Side effects

Dyspeptic disorders are possible, at the appearance of which the drug should be discontinued.

Overdose

Symptoms: sharp irritation of the conjunctiva and mucous membranes of the respiratory tract, dyspeptic disorders (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea), glomerulonephritis.

Treatment: Thioctic acid, folic acid, ascorbic acid, pyridoxine, and nicotinic acid are recommended.
