Pharmacological action
Pimafucin - fungicidal, antifungal.
Pharmacodynamics
Natamycin irreversibly binds to the sterols of the cell membranes of fungi, disrupting the integrity and function, which leads to the death of microorganisms.
Most pathogenic yeasts, especially Candida albicans, are sensitive to natamycin. Dermatophytes are less sensitive to natamycin. Primary resistance to natamycin is not found in clinical practice.
Pharmacokinetics
Natamycin has only local action, not absorbed from the digestive tract, through the skin and mucous membranes.
Indications
fungal diseases of the skin and mucous membranes caused by pathogens sensitive to the drug, including: vulvitis, vulvovaginitis, balanoposthitis, caused mainly by Candida
fungi candidiasis of the skin and nails
external otitis media, or primarily caused candidiasis
dermatomycosis.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
Ingredients
1 g cream contains:
Active ingredient: natamycin 20 mg
Excipients: decyl oleate - 100 mg - 100 mg 50 mg cetostearyl alcohol - 135 mg sodium lauryl sulfate - 15 mg methyl parahydroxybenzoate - 2 mg propyl parahydroxybenzoate - 1 mg propylene glycol - 150 mg purified water.
Dosage and administration
cream, topically. With vulvitis, vulvovaginitis, balanoposthitis, the cream is applied to the affected areas 1 or several times a day. In the persistent course of vulvitis, vulvovaginitis caused by Candida albicans, PimafucinΠis additionally prescribed in the form of tablets inside or vaginal suppositories.
With dermatomycosis (including candidiasis of the skin and nails, diaper rash in children) the cream is applied to the affected surface of the skin and nails one or more (up to 4) once a day.
With mycosis of the external auditory canal, the affected surface is smeared with cream one or several (up to 4) times a day. Before using the drug, the ear is cleaned. After using the drug, turunda from natural material (cotton, wool) is placed in the ear canal.
The duration of treatment is set individually. After the symptoms disappear, it is recommended to continue treatment for a few more days.
Side effects of the
From the gastrointestinal tract: in some cases when using enteric tablets, especially in the first days of treatment, nausea and diarrhea are possible, usually passing on their own.
Local reactions: possible slight irritation, burning sensation (when applying cream, vaginal suppositories).
Storage conditions
At a temperature not exceeding 25 РC.
