Pharmacological action

Alpha-adrenergic agonist for topical use.

Narrows the arterioles of the nasal mucosa, reduces swelling, hyperemia, and exudation of the mucosa.

Indications

symptomatic treatment of rhinitis (rhinitis) of allergic and / or infectious and inflammatory etiology4

sinusitis

eustachyitis

hay fever.

Contraindications

atrophic rhinitis

simultaneous use of MAO inhibitors (including the period of 14 days after their withdrawal)

children under 6 years of age.

hypersensitivity to the components of the drug

hypersensitivity to sympathomimetic drugs.

Precautions: coronary artery disease, arrhythmias, chronic heart failure, severe atherosclerosis, arterial hypertension, hyperthyroidism, diabetes mellitus, chronic renal failure, angle-closure glaucoma, prostatic hyperplasia with clinical symptoms, pregnancy, lactation.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

The safety of the drug in pregnant women and during lactation has not been established, therefore, the drug should be prescribed during pregnancy and during breastfeeding only on the recommendation of a doctor if the expected benefit of using the drug for the mother outweighs the potential risk for the fetus or baby.

Composition

1 ml contains:

Active ingredient:

oxymethazoline hydrochloride 0.5 mg

Excipients:

disodium edetate dihydrate - 300 μg,

sodium hydrogen phosphate - 975 μg sodium sulfide 5.5 gdrd srd 32 - 30 mg,

benzalkonium chloride solution 17% - 1.471 mg,

macrogol 1450 - 50 mg,

benzyl alcohol - 2.5 mg,

microcrystalline cellulose and sodium carmellose (Avicel RC-591) - 30 mg,

lemon flavor - 1.5 mg,

purified water - qs up to 1 ml.

Dosage and administration of

Intranasal.

Shake the bottle vigorously before each use.

Before using the nasal spray for the first time, you must calibrate it by pressing the spray head several times.

Adults and children over 6 years of age - 2-3 injections in each nasal passage with an interval of 10-12 hours. In adults, the frequency of use can be increased up to 3 times a day in adults.

It is not recommended to exceed the specified dose.

Side effects

Local reactions: transient dryness and burning of the nasal mucosa, dry mouth and throat, sneezing.

With prolonged use - tachyphylaxis, reactive hyperemia and atrophy of the nasal mucosa. Benzalkonium chloride, which is part of the drug, can cause local skin reactions.

Systemic reactions: increased blood pressure, increased anxiety, nausea, dizziness, headache, insomnia, palpitations, sleep disturbances.

Drug Interaction

The drug slows the absorption of locally anesthetized drugs and prolongs their duration.

Co-administration with other vasoconstrictor drugs increases the risk of side effects.

With the use of MAOI inhibitors (including a 14-day period after their withdrawal), maprolin and tricyclic antidepressants increase blood pressure.

overdose

Symptoms: nausea, vomiting, cyanosis, fever, tachycardia, arrhythmia, increase in blood pressure, shortness of breath, psychiatric disorders, CNS depression (drowsiness, shortness of breath, drowsiness, decrease in breath) and coma).

Treatment: symptomatic with accidental ingestion - gastric lavage, activated charcoal. Vasopressor medicines are contraindicated.
