Pharmacological action

Petroleum jelly is a laxative. It softens the stool and has a weak stimulating effect on the motility of the small intestine.

Indications

Constipation.

Vaseline oil can be used as an external remedy (in children) and as a basis for various ointments.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity,

inflammatory processes in the abdomen,

intestinal bleeding,

intestinal obstruction,

and feverish syndrome,

pregnancy.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

In pregnancy, the use of the drug is contraindicated because of possible reflex stimulation of the uterus. During breastfeeding, it is possible.

Dosage and Administration

Inside.

1-2 tbsp. spoon a day 2 hours after eating. The course of treatment is no more than 5 days.

Side effects of

Overdose

Symptoms: diarrhea, impaired electrolyte balance.

Treatment: symptomatic.
