Pirantel tablets 250mg, No. 3

The main indications for use are ascariasis, ankylostomiasis, necatorosis and enterobiasis.

The drug is administered orally during or after meals and the dosage is set individually, depending on the age and body weight of the patient.
Ascariasis and enterobiasis, as well as mixed infestations - a single dose of 10 mg / kg of body weight.

Children 3 years old - 6 years old / 250 mg (1 tab.)

Children 6 years old - 12 years old / 500 mg (2 tab.)

Children over 12 years old and adults with m / 750 mg (3 tab.)

Adults with m> 75 kg / 1000 mg (4 tab.)

The tablet should be chewed thoroughly.
Ankylostomiasis: the drug is prescribed at the rate of 10 mg / kg of body weight per day for 3 days.
Necatorosis: in severe forms, the drug is prescribed at a dose of 20 mg / kg of body weight per day for 2 days.

Active ingredient - pyrantel pamoate equivalent to pyrantel base 250 mg;

Pharmacological properties
Pirantel pamoat is a broad-spectrum antihelminthic drug. The mechanism of action is associated with blocking neuromuscular conduction in helminths. It is active against Enterobius vermicularis, Ascaris lumbricoides, Ancylostoma doudenale, Necator americanus, Trichostrongylus orientalis, Trichostrongylus colubriformis. Acts on both sexually mature and immature individuals of both sexes, does not affect larvae in the stage of migration.

Pharmacokinetics
After oral administration, pyrantel is poorly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. After taking a single dose of 10 mg / kg of body weight, the plasma concentration of pyrantel is 0.005-0.13 ?g / ml for 1-3 hours. Pyrantel, absorbed into the systemic circulation, is partially metabolized in the liver to N-methyl-1,3- propanediamine. 50% of the dose taken is excreted unchanged in the feces, about 7% - in the urine unchanged or as a metabolite.

Side effect
From the gastrointestinal tract and liver: decreased appetite, possible nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain; rarely - an increase in the activity of hepatic transaminases.
From the side of the central nervous system: rarely - headache, dizziness, drowsiness, insomnia, weakness; in some cases - hearing impairment, hallucinations, confusion, paresthenia.
Others: skin rash, fever.

Overdose
Treatment: gastric lavage. There is no specific antidote.

Interaction
Should not be administered concomitantly with piperazine (weakening of the action).
With the simultaneous use of pyrantel increases the concentration of theophylline in plasma.

Special instructions
After taking pyrantel, a laxative is not prescribed.
With enterobiasis, simultaneous treatment of all persons living together should be carried out. After completion of treatment, it is necessary to conduct a control study of feces for the presence of parasite eggs.
Careful observance of hygiene is necessary (cleaning of living quarters and cleaning clothes for the destruction of helminth eggs serves to prevent reinfection).

Tablets 250 mg.
3 tablets in a strip of aluminum foil or in a blister of PVC / aluminum foil.
