Pharmacological action
Uroantiseptic, 4-quinolone derivative. It has a bactericidal effect due to the binding of ferrous ions and inhibition of the microbial cell enzyme systems.
Active against most gram-negative bacteria: Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Proteus spp., Klebsiella spp., Shigella spp., Salmonella spp.
Also active against certain gram-positive bacteria, in particular Staphylococcus aureus.
Indications
Infectious and inflammatory diseases caused by susceptible microorganisms (including pyelonephritis, urethritis, cystitis, prostatitis).
Contraindications
Severe renal impairment (CC <10 ml / min), severe hepatic impairment, I and III trimesters of pregnancy, childhood, hypersensitivity to pipemidic acid.
Pregnancy and lactation
Pipemidic acid is contraindicated for use in the I and III trimesters of pregnancy. Use in the second trimester of pregnancy and during lactation (breastfeeding) should be carried out with caution only in cases where the expected therapeutic effect for the mother outweighs the potential risk of side effects in the fetus or child.
Special instructions
During treatment, UV radiation should be avoided due to the high risk of photosensitivity, increase the amount of fluid consumed (under the control of urine output).

Excipients: lactose monohydrate, silicon dioxide colloidal anhydrous, sodium starch glycolate, magnesium stearate.
Dosage and administration of
When taken orally, 400 mg 2 times / day for 10 days. In some cases, a single dose can be increased to 600 mg.
In case of frequent acute urinary tract infections in women, they are administered intravaginally along with oral treatment.
Side effects
From the digestive system: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea.
Allergic reactions: skin rash, itching.
