Pharmacological action

Laxative. The active form of the drug, formed by hydrolysis under the influence of intestinal microorganisms, directly excites the nerve structures of the intestinal wall, as a result of which the intestinal contents are accelerated, the absorption of electrolytes and water decreases. The action occurs 10-12 hours after administration.

Indications

Atonic constipation. Stool regulation (hemorrhoids, proctitis, anus cracks).

preparation for surgical operations, instrumental and radiological studies.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, intestinal obstruction, restrained hernia, acute inflammatory diseases of the abdominal organs, peritonitis, abdominal pain (of unclear origin), bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract, metrorrhagia, cystitis, severe dehydration (4) years), pregnancy I trimester.

Caution - lactation.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

Contraindicated in the first trimester of pregnancy. Repeated administration of the drug during the II and III trimesters should be carried out only after a thorough assessment of the need and risks, since there is not enough information about the use of the drug during pregnancy.

Dosage and Administration

Inside, at bedtime.

Depending on the effect obtained, the dose is increased or decreased in subsequent doses.

Adults: the initial dose is 13 drops, with persistent constipation - up to 26 drops.

For children over 4 years of age, the initial dose is 5-8 drops.

The course of treatment is 7 days.

Side effects

Diarrhea, abdominal pain, bloating, dehydration, water-electrolyte imbalance, weakness, cramps, decreased blood pressure.

Drug Interaction

Increased sensitivity to cardiac glycosides.

Glucocorticosteroids, diuretics increase the risk of electrolyte disorders.

Broad-spectrum antibiotics reduce the debilitating effect.

Overdose

Symptoms: see "Side effects" in addition, chronic overdose may develop ischemia of the colon, secondary hyperaldosteronism, urolithiasis, renal tuberculosis.

Treatment: gastric lavage, correction of water-electrolyte balance disorders, prescription of antispasmodics.

Storage conditions
