Pharmacodynamics

Topical antifungal drug with a wide spectrum of antifungal activity.

In low concentrations, terbinafine has fungicidal activity against dermatophytes (Trychophyton rubrum, Trychophyton mentagrophytes, Trychophyton verrucosum, Trychophyton violaceum, Trychophyton tonsurans, Microsporum canis, Epidermophyton fungus species).

Yeast activity is fungicidal or fungistatic, depending on the type of fungus.

Terbinafine, by inhibiting squalene epoxidase in the cell membrane of the fungus, specifically inhibits the early stage of sterol synthesis in the fungal cell,

which leads to ergosterol deficiency, intracellular accumulation of squalene and death of the fungal cell.

Squalene epoxidase is not associated with the cytochrome P450 system, so terbinafine does not affect the metabolism of hormones and drugs, whose metabolism is associated with the cytochrome P450 system.

Pharmacokinetics

Pharmacokinetics: when applied topically, absorption - less than 5%, has a slight systemic effect.

Indications

Prevention and treatment of fungal skin diseases (trichophytosis, microsporia, rubrophytia) caused by sensitive pathogens,

including foot mycoses - foot fungus and inguinal epidermophytosis of yeast infections (candidiasis of the skin), multi-colored lichen.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to terbinafine or to the components of the drug.

Precautions: Renal and / or liver failure, alcoholism, inhibition of bone marrow hematopoiesis, tumors, metabolic diseases,

occlusive vascular diseases of the extremities pregnancy, lactation, children under 12 years of age (lack of sufficient clinical experience).

Dosage and Administration

Externally.

Before applying the drug Exifin® cream, it is necessary to clean and dry the affected areas.

The cream is applied in a thin layer to the affected skin and adjacent areas and rubbed lightly.

for infections, accompanied by diaper rash (under the mammary glands, in the interdigital spaces, between the buttocks, in the inguinal region), the place of application of the cream can be covered with gauze, especially at night.

Average duration and frequency of application.

Dermatomycosis of the trunk, legs, inguinal epidermophytosis - 1 week 1 time per day.

Dermatomycosis of the feet (“foot fungus”) –1 week 1 time per day.

Candidiasis of the skin - 1-2 weeks 1 or 2 times a day.

Multi-colored lichen - 2 weeks 1 or 2 times a day.

The duration of treatment depends on the indication and severity of the disease.

A decrease in the severity of clinical manifestations is noted in the early days of treatment.

For the prevention of relapse of foot mycoses - 2-3 courses of 2 weeks with an interval of 7 days.

The dosage regimen of the drug Exifin® cream in the elderly does not differ from the above.

Side effects
