Tincture of hellebore 100ml (bhf)
DESCRIPTION
Tincture of hellebore (Tinctura Veratri) is a ruminator and emetic agent, as well as a means to combat ectoparasites in animals.
COMPOSITION
The preparation in 100 ml contains 0.09-0.11% protoveratrin alkaloid and a filler.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Hellebore tincture belongs to the pharmacotherapeutic group: emetics and ruminators. The drug, 5-10 minutes after ingestion, reflexively irritates and enhances motility and secretion of the proventriculus in ruminants, and in dogs and pigs causes vomiting.
According to the degree of impact on the body, Hellebore Tincture according to GOST 12.1.007-76 belongs to low-hazard substances (hazard class 4).
DOSAGE AND APPLICATION
Hellebore tincture is used as a ruminating agent for atony, hypotension and tympanic rumen in ruminants, as an emetic for pigs and dogs, and also for the fight against ectoparasites (fleas, lice, ticks) in animals.
When taken orally, hellebore tincture is given in the following doses
cattle - 5-12 ml per animal or (0.01 - 0.024 ml / kg of live weight)
sheep and goats - 1 - 4 ml per animal or (0.04 - 0.08 ml / kg live weight)
pigs - 1 - 2 ml per animal or (0.014 -0.028 ml / kg live weight)
dogs - 0.05 - 2 ml per animal or (0.05 - 0.2 ml / kg live weight)
Treatment is carried out 1 - 2 times a day until recovery.
Depending on the type of animal, the preparation is diluted with water from 50 to 500 ml and administered inside using a rubber bottle.
To combat fleas, lice, and ticks, a tincture of hellebore diluted with water 1: 2 is sprayed or moistened with the back of the animal.
Doses of the drug are approximately the same as when taken orally.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
When working with the drug, it is prohibited to drink, smoke and eat. After handling the drug, wash your hands with soap and water.
If the drug is accidentally swallowed, give the victim a large amount of water to drink (4-5 glasses) and induce vomiting.
The antidote for hellebore poisoning is a solution of atropine sulfate. In case of poisoning or the appearance of allergic reactions, you should immediately contact a medical institution (you should have instructions for using the drug or a label with you).
CONTRAINDICATIONS
A contraindication to the use of Hellebore tincture in animals is hypersensitivity to alkaloids.
SIDE EFFECTS
As a rule, side effects and complications when using the drug in accordance with this instruction are not observed.
OVERDOSE
In case of an overdose, severe hellebore poisoning occurs. In these cases, a 1% solution of atropine sulfate is injected subcutaneously with 0.3-1 ml per 10 kg of weight. For tachycardia, intravenous 1-2 ml per animal.
SHELF LIFE AND STORAGE
The shelf life of the medicinal product, subject to storage conditions in a sealed package, is 3 years from the date of manufacture. It is forbidden to use Hellebore tincture after the expiration date.
Store the drug in the manufacturer's sealed packaging in a dry, dark place at a temperature of 0 В° C to 20 В° C.
Hellebore tincture should be kept out of the reach of children.

Hellebore tincture is packed in glass bottles of 100 ml, sealed with rubber stoppers, reinforced with aluminum caps.
