Tablets of pink or mauve color with white and dark blotches, flat-cylindrical with beveled and scored.

Pharmacotherapeutic group : intestinal antiseptic and astringent

Pharmacological properties

The combined preparation has an astringent, antacid, antispasmodic and mild laxative effect. Magnesium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate reduce the acidity of gastric juice, reduce the activity of pepsin. Bismuth nitrate forms a protective film on the gastric mucosa, providing anti-inflammatory, bactericidal, reparative effect. Calamus rhizome has an antispasmodic effect, buckthorn bark is a laxative.

Feces become dark in color while taking the drug.
It is necessary to take into account the possibility of the development of encephalopathy associated with the accumulation of bismuth in the central nervous system with prolonged use of the drug in high doses.
It is inappropriate to prescribe to patients with peptic ulcer disease in combination with chronic appendicitis, enterocolitis, cholecystitis and patients with a tendency to bleeding.
