Hypersensitivity to acyclovir and other components of the drug.

pharmachologic effect

Antiviral drug for external and local use. Acyclovir is active against Herpes simplex types 1 and 2, Varicella zoster virus, Epstein-Barr virus and cytomegalovirus.

Thymidine kinase of cells infected with a virus through a series of sequential reactions actively converts acyclovir to mono-, di- and acyclovir triphosphate. The latter interacts with viral DNA polymerase and is embedded in DNA, which is synthesized for new viruses. Thus, a 'defective' viral DNA is formed, which leads to suppression of the replication of new generations of viruses.

Pharmacokinetics

With repeated use of the cream, systemic absorption is minimal.

Side effect

Local reactions: sometimes - short-term redness, itching, peeling, burning or tingling in the areas of application of the drug.

Allergic reactions: rarely - allergic dermatitis (more often associated with a reaction to excipients); in isolated cases - Quincke's edema.

Application during pregnancy and lactation

Adequate and strictly controlled clinical studies of the safety of the drug during pregnancy have not been conducted. Application is indicated only in cases where the intended benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.

special instructions

To achieve the maximum therapeutic effect, it is necessary to use the drug already at the first signs of the disease (burning, itching, tingling, feeling of tension and redness).

In case of severe manifestations of herpes of the lips, it is recommended to consult a doctor.

The cream is not recommended to be applied to the mucous membranes of the mouth and eyes, because development of local inflammation is possible.

When treating genital herpes, it is recommended to avoid sexual intercourse or use condoms. the use of acyclovir does not prevent sexual transmission of the virus.

Immunocompromised patients should follow the advice of a physician when treating any infectious disease.
